PEACE IN OUR TIME--NOT SO MUCH:

Yesterday, Fox News reported this news about a possible deal with Iran. My commentary follows:

President Donald Trump (https://www.foxnews.com/category/person/donald-trump) on Monday said negotiations with Iran are “proceeding nicely” and urged multiple Middle Eastern countries to sign onto the Abraham Accords, saying Iran could also eventually join the agreement if a deal is reached with the United States.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said it “should be mandatory” for countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt and Jordan to join the Abraham Accords as part of any broader agreement involving Iran, arguing the pact would bring “Power, Strength, and Peace to the Middle East.”

"Negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran are proceeding nicely! It will only be a Great Deal for all or, no Deal at all — Back to the Battlefront and shooting, but bigger and stronger than ever before — And nobody wants that!" Trump wrote in part.

Trump held a conference call at the White House on Saturday with leaders and senior officials from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain to discuss the Iran (https://www.foxnews.com/category/world/conflicts/iran) conflict.

"I stated that, after all the work done by the United States to try and pull this very complex puzzle together, it should be mandatory that all of these Countries, at a minimum, simultaneously, sign onto the Abraham Accords. Those Countries discussed are Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates (already a Member!), Qatar, Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain (already a Member!)," Trump wrote Monday, referencing the call. "It may be possible that one or two have a reason for not doing so, and that will be accepted, but most should be ready, willing, and able to make this Settlement with Iran a far more Historic Event than it would, otherwise, be."

"The Abraham Accords have proven to be, for the Countries involved (The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, and Kazakhstan), a Financial, Economic, and Social BOOM, even during this time of Conflict and War, with the current Members never even suggesting leaving, or taking so much as even a pause," Trump wrote. "The reason for this is that the Abraham Accords have been great for them, and will be even better for everybody, and bring true Power, Strength, and Peace to the Middle East for the first time in 5,000 years. It will be a Document respected like no other that has ever been signed, anywhere in the World. Its level of Importance and Prestige will be unparalleled!"

Trump continued, "It should start with the immediate signing by Saudi Arabia (https://www.foxnews.com/category/world/world-regions/saudi-arabia) and Qatar, and everybody else should follow suit. If they don’t, they should not be part of this Deal in that it shows bad intention. In speaking to numerous of the Great Leaders mentioned above, they would be honored, as soon as our Document is signed, to have the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of the Abraham Accords. Wow, now that would be something special! This will be the most important Deal that any of these Great, but always in Conflict Countries, will ever sign. Nothing in the past, or in the future, will surpass it."

"Therefore, I am mandatorily requesting that all Countries immediately sign the Abraham Accords, and that, if Iran signs its Agreement with me, as President of the United States of America, it would be an Honor to have them also be part of this unparalleled World Coalition. The Middle East (https://www.foxnews.com/category/world/world-regions/middle-east) would be United, Powerful, and Economically Strong, like perhaps no other area, anywhere in the World!

By copy of this TRUTH, I am asking my Representatives to begin, and successfully complete, the process of signing these Countries into the already Historic Abraham Accords. Thank you for your attention to this matter!" he added.

Apart from torturing the English language with words like, “mandatorily requesting” this entire statement is hyperbolic. It has been made in a spirit of complete detachment from the facts the central fact being that all the countries to which the president refers are dedicated to Islamic supremacy, an ideology that forbids any enduring peace with infidels. This is the trap door on which President Trump and Steve Witkoff, whose ignorance of the region’s history and culture is unsurpassed, have placed us.

What happened to, “Help is on the way! and Unconditional Surrender?” These are just two of the blizzard of conflicting statements issued by the White House since hostilities began.

Having blown Iran’s nuclear facilities at Fordow to smithereens last June, incapacitated large parts of its command and control structure, sunk most of the Iranian navy, destroyed Iran’s air force, blown up 35% of its ballistic missiles and 85% of its drone capacity, killed over 50 of its most senior government and military officials, we are now negotiating with a vicious, genocidal regime of monsters who have been tormenting mankind for 47 years and who last January brutally massacred over 40,000 of its own people. Not content with that, it sent the IRGC into hospitals and summarily executed those who were recovering in their beds.

To allow any vestige of this regime to survive is an obscenity.

Traumatized by our expensive, well-meaning but bungled efforts at regime change in Iraq the Trump Administration declared regime change was not its goal in Iran. However, that is the only way to rid ourselves of a determined, tyrannical theocratic regime with an apocalyptic vision. “Death to America!” is not a chant; it’s a policy.

Without a Second Amendment with which our Founding Fathers blessed us, it is not possible for 90 million unarmed Iranians to overcome the IRGC, the Basij militia and the several hundred thousand reservists all of which are heavily armed. The brave Iranian people learned that the hard way last January.

President Trump should never have declared he would not put boots on the ground. He should have kept the regime guessing.

Iran is almost four times larger than Iraq. Its topography is varied and often mountainous unlike Iraq’s which is mainly flat and sandy. Therefore, “boots on the ground” would bring its own set of withering punishments.

If President Trump is reluctant to invade Iran then the only path to victory is to reduce its oil production facilities, including Kharg Island, to rubble and force an unconditional surrender. Nothing else will suffice.

Thinking that the Iranian regime will forsake its Islamic supremacist ideology and genuinely embrace the ecumenism of the Abraham Accords is wishful thinking on stilts.

“ Convince a man against his will;

He’s of the same opinion still.”

As yet, we don’t know any details about this deal, but that we are negotiating with these monsters is, to me, obscene. It means we have lost our superior position both strategically and morally while casting aside the historic opportunity created by Trump of freeing the world of a nuclear powered Iran once and for all.

If a deal is struck that allows the regime, or parts of it, to survive and remain in power then we have lost.  We may get peace now but tragically and unnecessarily we will get much more war later.

Watching this scenario unfold is a bit like going to a play and when the curtain rises the first thing you see on stage is a revolver on a table. If it’s still there at the end of the first act you know it’s only a matter of time before it’s going to be used. All you have to do is wait.
