HOLLYWOOD'S BROWN-SHIRTS

I always like to congratulate people on exposing hypocrisy even when it is unintentional. In this case it is Eric McCormack and Debra Messing of "Will & Grace" fame who exposed their own hypocrisy in a revealing and frightening way last week.

Messing called for the publication of a list of attendees at an expensive fund raising event for President Trump's reelection to be held in Beverly Hills. McCormack chimed in by saying such a list would be helpful because it would identify those in show-business with whom they did not wish to work. This is called a Blacklist. It violates the first amendment rights of every American. Fascists like Congressman Joaquin Castro (D) love this sort of thing.

McCormack made things worse when he tried to clarify his position in a self-serving way. A good deal of hypocrisy is required to make such a suppurating hand-washing statement into a plausible excuse: " I want to be clear about my social media post from last week which has been misinterpreted in a very upsetting way. I absolutely do not support blacklists or discrimination of any kind, as anyone who knows me would attest. I'd simply like to understand where Trump's major donations are coming from, which is a matter of public record. I'm holding myself responsible for making educated and informed decisions that I can morally and ethically stand by and to do that transparency is essential."

McCormack displayed no interest in the source of Barack Obama's or Hillary Clinton's major campaign donations. These, like the donations to President Trump's campaign, as McCormack states, are a matter of public record so why does he not just go and look at that record instead of calling for a Blacklist of contributors?

The moral and ethical high-ground on which Eric McCormack seeks to stand can be measured in millimeters. As for Debra Messing, she needs to start carrying around the kind of rectal thermometer with which to test the rate she is producing intellectual flatulence.
