BALTIMORE, THE LEFT'S PLANTATION

Baltimore has been in the hands of the Democrats for over 45 years. What we recently witnessed there was the collapse of Democratic policies which continually throw money at problems without insisting on rigorous accountability.

A major cause of the riots was Mayor Rawlings-Blake who told the police to "stand down" and give the rioters "space to destroy". She is directly responsible for all of the violence, injuries, looting and destruction of property mostly owned by minority businesses and now she has invited the federal government to investigate the BPD in a cynical attempt to distract attention from her glaring guilt and woeful incompetence. History teaches us that the only way to stop mob violence is with overwhelming force. Mayor Rawlings-Blake's grade in History must surely have been an "F".

Making matters worse was State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby whose "Verdict first, trial afterwards" statement that she would be seeking justice for Freddie Gray demonstrated not only a sense of prosecutorial panic and recklessness but also what appeared to be the first example of Stockholm Syndrome on the part of a prosecutor. Note to Ms. Mosby: Justice is supposed to be blind not intimidated.

Both of these disgraceful public servants should be held accountable for their weak and provocative behavior and resign in shame. Neither of them know what they are doing and are out of their depth to the extent they are positively water-logged.

So, let me see if I have this right: The population of Baltimore is 68% black, the police department is 68% black, the fire department is 58% black, the school district is 86% black, the school teachers are 72% black, the city council is 85% black, the chief of police is black and the mayor is black. About 54% of Baltimore's population is on welfare. More than 60% of its population who are over 25 years of age have less than a high school diploma and almost half of current high school students are chronically absent.

What has gone wrong? It cannot be the lack of money.

Federal and state funds have been literally cascading into the city for decades. From fiscal years 2003 to 2013 (the last year for which these reports are available), Baltimore received at least $2.4 billion in federal assistance and another $1.8 billion in state aid. The city also received roughly $1.8 billion in federal stimulus money of which more than $1.4 billion has been spent so far. And this does not count the billions of dollars received directly by the people who live in Baltimore through various social welfare programs.

Yet President Obama, Congressman Cummings and Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer all insist we have to "invest" more in our inner cities to get "the kind of communities we want". Really?!! 

Not one of the Democrats has called for a halt to the waste, fraud and abuse that characterize the failed policies of the Left. Not one of them has drawn attention to the astronomically high out-of-wedlock birth rate in the black community of 72% which exceeds that of the white and Hispanic communities combined.

The disintegration of the black family in America is directly attributable to the imposture of the Democrats to be the champion of the down-trodden, the dispossessed and the disenfranchised and it is that disintegration which has turned the black community into the most unsuccessful element in American society. Large numbers of America's most precious national resource, its own people, have been exploited to produce votes for a party and an ideology whose only interest is in maintaining power and extending its control over every aspect of our national life.

"The essential act of the Party", wrote Orwell in his novel '1984', "is to use conscious deception while retaining the seriousness of purpose associated with complete honesty." This is what has been going on in hundreds of cities throughout America including Chicago, Detroit, Dearborn and blighted Baltimore. Failure has been their reward for embracing the fully cloaked deceptions of the Left and tragically they still seem inclined to embrace those deceptions regardless of the overwhelming evidence in their own lives that they have been played for fools. Never has a political party been so richly supported for creating such dismal failures.
